Easy Peasy Maple Glazed Donuts

So I woke up craving donuts.
Which isn't a good thing when you live 35 minutes from the closest store that sells donuts.
But I was in luck, as albertsons had a 10 for 10$ sale on pillsbury canned biscuits the other day, and I had 1 can left over.

I've made these one time before and if i remember correctly, Matt loved them... So it was worth a second go at them.

The ingredients are super easy, and things you might already have them at home like I did!
- 1 can pillsbury biscuits
- maple syrup
- powdered sugar
- butter
- frying oil

Start by popping the biscuits open.... Prepare yourself!  That dang pop gets me every time!
Then use a small biscuit cutter or something else you might have on hand (I used the funnel from my breast pump...) to cut out holes in the center of the biscuits.
Now you have donuts and donut holes!

Drop them in the hot oil.

Once browned on one side, flip over.
It took my donuts about 1 min or so to brown on each side.

By the way, this is so quick and easy you can do it while holding a baby on your hip...
If you don't have a baby, it makes it even quicker as you can use two hands!

And don't forget to fry up those little holes!

After frying them, prepare the maple glaze.
Melt two tablespoons butter. (Or vegan butter in my case.... Bleh)
Then mix in about 1 cup powered sugar.
Then pour in about 3 tablespoons of maple syrup.
Mix all together till smooth.
Add more syrup or sugar depending on your desired consistency.

After donuts have cooled, dip into glaze.
Or double... Or triple dip... No one is watching....

One coat of dipping in the works!

And if you're a little crazy, you can even top with some chocolate ribbons :)
I used some good ol Hershey's syrup...

Now, Enjoy!
Because if you cant tell... There are 2 donuts missing here... And I know Bridger didn't eat them.
And I may or may not be responsible for the missing donut holes...

Looks like I gotta run a bit further today!

This guy even gives them a standing ovation, he loved the maple glaze :).

20 Weeks Old

Hey Little Bug,
First off, kisses from your momma!

This week, we played in the snow some more!
We were lucky enough to have some cold temperatures after the snow came so its hanging around!
Which is good because you sure enjoy being outside in it!

I did decide to make you some scarves this week - you like being outside but sometimes i think your little neck gets cold as its usually the only thing not covered!
Plus, they will work well for drool bibs too but look stylish! :)
We also made you a cardigan onesie for christmas time ... its so cute! I mean handsome... so handsome :)

This week your dad took us on a date!
We went out to our favorite mexican place, Chapalitas in Hailey.
Its been hard getting rid of all dairy in my diet, but lucky enough for me my favorite dish there has no cheese in it!
Arroz con pollo.....mmmmmmm so tasty!
While we were at the restaurant you were chatting up a storm.
Then later, you were screaming with joy... luckily its a kid friendly place and everyone thought you were just too cute!

Your mommas elk season opened this week, so we have all been scouting for them!
They havent come down into our farm fields yet, so we have been on the lookout.
We have been up and down Little Wood, Fish Creek, and just about everywhere else in south county.
We saw some far away and thought we would hike out from behind them and meet them at the top of the ridge...
Unfortunately, we were a few ridges away and just didnt have the time to get all the way to them.
(Nor would we have the means to drag it out!!!)
BUT, we did find some gorgeous views and you sure loved being outside!

This week we have also had the company of Sioux, Drake and Bruins doggie.
We are sitting her as her family is on vacation, and you love getting kisses from her.

You love doing chores with dad, and always enjoy the car ride.
When we stop, you get very sad if we dont get outside the car to help.
So we do.
Or we let you look at the window at least!

Oh my little boy, you are so wonderful.
Every day with you is a gift!
You are so adventurous now as a wee one, i can only imagine your spirit as you get older!
You are gonna keep momma busy!

Love you bunches babe,
Momma

19 Weeks Old

Hi sweet baby,
This week started off a bit hard for our family.
Our beloved boxer, Chloe, was having a very hard time.
She quit eating and had a difficult time even walking around the house.
We decided it was best to let her go.
Chloe was born on 2.2.2000 so she was 14 1/2 years old!
She had a very good, long life - especially ending it with meeting your sweet face!
She went peacefully and we buried her at one of our favorite spots.

Im not sure if you are teething, or if perhaps you just werent feeling all that well, but after church on sunday your daddy rocked you to sleep - it has been a while since you fell asleep in your daddys arms.  He didnt even believe that you were alseep, i had to take a picture to show him!

You have started to hold your own sippy cup this week.
You skipped the whole "lets drink milk from a bottle" thing and went right on to sippy cups!
Hey... whatever floats your boat little captain, im just glad you will drink milk from something!!!!
Itll make the rare date night a little more possible.
But i will say you look just a bit too big holding that cup... stop. growing. :)

You are still loving your bath time!
You just love sitting in the warm water telling stories to us!
And you love the fuzzy green towel your Auntie Manda made you!
You curl right up into it when you get out of your bath!
And lately, you just laugh and giggle and scream... uh, so cute!

This week you also met SisterPants up close and personal.
Youve met all the dogs, but you dont always get to spend quality time with them as they are still a bit too rambunctious for you.
But sweet sis, she came inside and let you love alllll over her!
You grabbed her ears, tried to eat her face, pulled on her jowls... you basically mauled her with love.
And she enjoyed every second!

We also had our first snow this week - at first it was just a light dusting but then later on in the week we got a few inches!
And oh boy, you sure do love it!
We all know you love being outside, but most people dont enjoy being outside in the cold.
You, on the other hand, thought it was just a ball!
Hopefully we will get much much more for your first winter!

Unfortunately, this week we discovered you were allergic to dairy.
Not lactose intolerant, allergic to the dairy protein.
So mom will cut out all dairy from her diet and hopefully your little tummy will return to its happy little self!

I cant wrap my head around how fast you grow!
Every day you seem to be just a smidge bigger, and everyday you learn something new!
And everyday, you steal mommas heart.
You take her heart and you fill it up with your sweetness until its pouring out everywhere.
You are the happiest little baby... you are simply a joy to be around.
I am so blessed to call you mine.

I love you sweet pea,
Your momma.

Hey Bridger bogey,
(You have a plethora of nicknames... Most which take a lot of explaining to understand...)

This week you discovered how much you like to be naked...
You don't need to be totally nude, just down to your diaper.
But man you are happy to have your clothes off!
We could post a picture although that would be embarrassing! ;)

Dad read you a book this week and you actually followed along! Normally you just listen and look out the window or at me, but this time you looked at the pages - it was very cute.

It's starting to get cold here and it rained this week.
We went for a walk in the rain - but you were fully covered in your stroller and all bundled!
We dress you like a little bear and you stay nice and warm!

We went to town this week and you rode on an elk....

You still love to cuddle and sleep on momma (thank goodness)!
You are loving all your toys now that it's a lot easier for you to grab them and then eat them ;)
You chew on everything, even momma and dads faces!

You still love love love LOVE the baby in the mirror! He is definitely your best friend.
And he is super cute.

It's so fun spending our days together!
You don't really have a choice, but I think even if you did, you would like your days with me!
I'm sure you would spend a lot more time with dad too... Riding and roping and driving big machines!!!
I've got to soak up all the momma lovin while I can before you figure out all the fun manly stuff there is to do with dad!
(But don't worry... Mom likes all that stuff too, so hopefully you'll let her tag along!)

Love you mr. Man,
Momma

Cardigan Onesie

So I've been able to complete my first sewing project since Baby B came along!

Granted it wasn't a whole lot of sewing and it only took me an hour ... But it's still blog worthy!

We made the ever-so-popular Onesie Cardigan!

We bought this onesie at Once Upon A Child, a local children's consignment shop for 2$.

This one has a fixed neck opening with side snaps on the left shoulder.

Step 1: remove neck band (this was a tad tricky at the snaps but we managed)

Step 2: Cut down the center - when you are nearing the snaps veer off to one side  and cut between two snaps

Step 3: at the armpit level, mark a line starting at the center cut and up to each shoulder

Step 4: cut out these two triangles

Step 5: line with bias tape and pin in place (packaged or homemade - I had a package of green bias tape that needed to be used and loved the color contrast)
(I folded and pinned under the start of the tape and left the tail unpinned and unfolded just in case - as you near the tail, measure fold and pin then sew)

Step 6: Sew through bias tape - be sure to sandwich the onesie with the tape and sew through all 3 layers!

Step 7: pick out cute buttons and sew on  - I sewed through both layers of the onesie so they aren't working buttons.  If you wanted working buttons, you'll have to make holes ... :/

And viola!  A cardigan onesie!
Bridger is sleeping so I can't try it on him ... But he will be wearing it next week so keep your eye out for pictures :)
